What we use

The technology behind your treatment

CBCT 3D scanner

A cone beam CT scan creates a 3D image of your teeth, bone, airways, nerve paths and soft tissue, in more detail than conventional dental x-rays. It shows bone depth and volume before an implant is placed.

iTero intraoral scanner

A small wand captures detailed 3D images of your teeth and gums in minutes. It is non-invasive, uses no radiation and replaces messy impression trays.

Intraoral camera

High-resolution photos of individual teeth, full arches and soft tissue, stitched into a 3D model so you can see exactly what we see.

Guided surgery

Your scans are combined to plan each implant on a computer and create a custom surgical guide for precise placement.

Questions

Technology questions

Straight answers to the questions patients ask us most. Your dentist will go through everything that applies to you at your free consultation.

What is guided implant surgery?

Guided surgery uses your CBCT scan and a 3D intraoral scan to plan the exact position of each implant on a computer. A custom surgical guide then helps the dentist place the implant precisely, which can mean less downtime and sometimes no stitches. All our dentists are also experienced in freehand placement planned from 3D scans.

What are your implants made of, and which brands do you use?

Our implants are titanium. We use established implant systems including Straumann, Hiossen, Neodent, Nobel and Megagen, chosen to suit your condition and preferences. Ceramic (metal-free) Straumann implants can also be ordered on request.

What happens at my consultation?

You’ll meet the implant team, have digital photos and a 3D CBCT scan taken, and get a full exam of your teeth and gums. The doctor then explains your options, timeline and costs, and answers your questions. There is no obligation to go ahead.

How long does the whole implant process take?

It depends on your case. A single implant usually takes a few months from placement to the final crown, because the bone needs time to bond with the implant. If you need an extraction or bone graft first, allow extra healing time. Your treatment plan includes an expected timeline before you commit to anything.
